Twenty-Three

Pulling up a chair on the veranda as we got back, I popped open my bottle of beer, still a little pissed Marcus wasn’t letting us out tonight to celebrate the show. “Where’s Shane?” I queried as Mark stepped out, sliding the door shut.

“In Kendall,” Chester whispered behind his beer as Liam and Mark smirked back at him. “I mean, maybe inside?”

“He said he would be over soon,” Mark spoke as he sat down confirming Chester’s earlier statement.

“Where’s your ball buster?” Chester asked as he jumped over the seat to sit down beside me.

“Editing, mate. She told me to text her when Mace arrives.” I noticed Liam’s head raise slightly at the mention of her name, a smile plastering his lips. “Which reminds me, did Shane speak to Kendall before he started necking her? I wonder if she had a chance to talk with Claire?” I was curious to know if that was followed up on.

“Oi, yeah, she did! Sorry, Kendall was telling us before,” Liam piped up when my question reminded him. “Claire wasn’t taking her calls. But she did speak to another of their friends who Claire had spoken to after.”

“And?” I was growing impatient. I wanted to put this issue to bed before it became a bigger problem for Charlie.

“She heard you two fooling around, bro. She got curious...” When Liam said it, I noticed the other boys cringe.

“Yeah, curiously wishing she was Charlie.” Chester couldn’t say more as Mark placed a hand across his mouth to cut him off.

“That’s creepy as fuck,” Mark said what we were all thinking.

“Have a chat to Shane and Kendall when they get here, bro. She can tell you more about Claire.” Liam nodded as I thanked him.

“I still can’t believe we are being punished for other people’s behaviour,” an already annoyed Chester grumbled. Given the problems we had experienced at this stop already, Marcus had made it clear to stay at the hotel.

“To be fair, he has a point,” Mark replied to Chester. “You got beat up, then Brax and Charlie had trouble with Claire.”

“And besides, he didn’t say we couldn’t have a big one, right?” Liam smirked as he pulled out a couple joints he had already rolled.

By the time Charlie finished and Mace still hadn’t arrived, she decided to wander over. Of course, we were smashed. Mark, Chester and I were out on the veranda chilling when she walked up to me.

“Are you alright, Brax?” I could see the humour plastered across her face, realising quickly the state I was in.

“Maybe I should walk it off?” I slurred slightly.

“Come with me.” She led me down the hallway towards the kitchenette and lounge when we saw Liam. “Dude, what are you doing?”

“Oh, hey Midget! I just ran into this guy coming back from the toilet and we were having a chat. What’s your name again man?” Charlie and I looked at each other confused. “Anyway, yeah so what are you guys doing?”

“Liam, you do realise that’s a mirror right? And that man is your reflection?” Charlie asked.
